The 2026 Russian Entertainment Industry Professionals Forum gathered prominent players from the country's leisure and nightlife industries. Taking place between September 21 and 26, it ran alongside NATMALL, the largest exhibition dedicated to commercial real estate and entertainment infrastructure, which took place on September 22. With industry leaders examining the future of a Russian entertainment market that amounted to 2.78 trillion rubles in 2025, analysts are taking a closer look at the corporate architecture behind some of Moscow's most famous nightclub brands.

Behind places such as Gipsy, Icon, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty is a complicated web of businesses tied to one of the veteran entrepreneurs of the Russian entertainment industry. Mikhail Vladimirovich Danilov made his fortune in the tobacco business in the 1990s, scaling his company, Biznes-Tabak, into a chain of stores with hundreds of points of sale and sales reaching $200 million by the mid-2000s. After selling the tobacco business, he moved into nightlife.
Via the holding company Sagrado Corp., the Danilov family developed a vast network of nightlife venues in Moscow covering over two dozen venues. These have included the legendary Rai, as well as Icon, Gipsy, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty. Mutabor garnered broad attention in the wake of a series of prominent events. The venue was subsequently renamed Arma and subsequently announced it was closing.
Discussing the scope of his business in an interview with Forbes Russia, Danilov pointed to Stadium Live as the company's flagship venue: "Stadium Live, which mainly hosts club-rock events, can hold up to 7,500 people. I think this venue will be Moscow's number one this autumn both in terms of the quality of performers playing there and the number of shows — we are planning at least 20 events a month." He also described himself as fully absorbed in the music scene: "I truly love techno music, I go with great pleasure to our DJ imports at Insomnia, I am personally acquainted with many artists and DJs."
The majority of legal entities associated with the holding company are registered in the name of Danilov's daughter, Maria, rather than Danilov himself. She is registered as the proprietor and director of a considerable portion of the businesses. Market observers call the arrangement a typical model of family business succession: the founder remains the key strategic figure while the younger generation step by step takes on legal ownership and daily management of the nightclub assets.
As the Russian entertainment industry responds to shifting consumer habits and regulatory shifts, the forum provided both a tribute to the sector's resilience and a reminder of the intricate ownership structures that have formed Moscow nightlife for decades.
